Please read this document BEFORE updating your copy of SAM Intercept!
Before updating your copy of SAM Intercept, please restart your Macintosh and hold down the shift key during startup to disable your extensions. After you have completed the update restart your Macintosh normally.
(To quit the patcher program in order to restart with extensions off, simply close this window.)
This program will only update version 4.5.0, 4.5.1 or 4.5.2 of the SAM Intercept extension. It does not update the SAM application or any of its associated files.
The SAM Intercept extension can be found in:
System Folder
Extensions Folder
This updater is for installed versions of SAM Intercept and is NOT to be used to update versions on locked, original installation floppies. This updater will only work with U.S. and international English versions of SAM 4.5.x.
Important Note: SAM Intercept version 4.5.3 requires the February 1998 definitions set or later. If you already have a definitions file later than February you do not need to use the 'Install First - 2/1/98 Defs' installer included with the 'SAM Intercept 4.5.x --> 4.5.3' patch.

Troubleshooting Tips:
• The patcher displays an error message that says it "Cannot update this version of SAM Intercept" or gives a type -122 error:
- The version of the SAM Intercept extension installed on your Macintosh may be corrupt. Reinstall the original version of SAM Intercept from the install floppy disks. Once SAM Intercept has been reinstalled, open the 'SAM Intercept 4.5.x --> 4.5.3' patch and attempt to update the new copy.
• Upon restart after updating SAM Intercept, you get a message "Microsoft Office could not load due to a memory error":
- The SAM Preferences installed on your Macintosh have become corrupt. Inside of the Preferences folder in the System Folder, locate the SAM Preferences and drag them to the trash. After restarting the computer, Microsoft Office Manager should load appropriately.
• If you have Suspicious Activity monitoring enabled, numerous Suspicious Activity Alerts will appear when you run the patch program. This is normal and you can click "allow" to continue. If you would like to avoid having to dismiss Suspicious Activity Alerts, restart your Macintosh with extensions off.
• Virus Definition file creation dates inside of the Finder 'Get Info' box are not updated. To obtain the correct version of the SAM Virus Definitions look at the splash screen during the launch of SAM. Another option is to choose the Edit Virus Definitions command from the Tools menu of SAM. The dialog that appears displays the correct virus definition date in the lower left-hand corner.
